I use a damp rag to remove mud out of the texture around the filled hole.

I've been mucking around with drywall, mud, spackle, etc. for years as Joe Homeowner. I came here to figure out how to match a textured wall that I've never had before. This video was probably the best yet to help me tackle this 2X3 foot patch where a room air conditioner was. I LOVE the trick with the patch keeping the paper on! I've never seen that before and it's brilliant! Thanks for all the help!

My parents moved an old fridge across the kitchen in prep for a new one last week and smashed our key holder (and made two holes) off the wall and I'm here fixing it for them, this video was super helpful, as their wall is textured and I want to be able to make it seamless. I appreciate your humor in the video, it helped make this process that much easier to understand, thank you Jeff!
