I never thought I would be so thrilled to dive into Dostoevsky. This book club has enhanced my life in so many ways. I'm missing Gus and Call so much, yet I'm ready to meet new friends.

I will never forget the day I picked up Dostoevsky and read him for the first time. I attribute my current love for classic literature to him, really, as to this day, I've yet to find an author who has profoundly affected my worldview like him.

Well, James Joyce came close, but the change with me was in a different manner 😅

Anyways, lovely to see more Dostoevsky. Thank you for the video!

I read nearly his entire Catalogue while homeless, over 3 New England Winters.

Thanks for sharing this. One thing I especially love about Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novels is the mini-narratives within them, such as the guillotine story in this novel and the “Little Onion” parable in The Brothers Karamazov, etc. In case you didn’t know, this onion parable inspired the Japanese short story "The Spider’s Thread" (1918) by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa.

If you are on the outside, join the club. I was on the outside for a couple years and made the move to Patreon. Tons of great work there and interaction with the club.

I read this for the first time about three weeks ago. An incredibly profound novel. There are four discussions in particular (including Myshkin’s discussion about the death penalty and Ippolit’s letter) that are some of the most raw and uncomfortable passages I’ve come across in literature.
And that ending…my god…

I continue to say to myself every time I listen to a video of yours that they are pure gold from front to back.

Dostoyevsky was reading Dicken's, 'Old Curiosity Shop' while writing about Prince Myshkin.

How interesting that Gabriele Garcia arquez begins his novel A Hundred years of Solitude with his hero Aurelian Buendia, facing a firing squad.

YES, love Dostoyevsky! Personally, my favorite novel of his is Demons. The Brothers Karamazov is a close second.
