I HIGHLY recommend you check your local library for a copy of The Complete Tightwad Gazette, if you've never read it! You can also get a used copy on Amazon right now for $13! https://amzn.to/3UiIQPo

The Tightwad Gazette changed my life! I went from spender to saver! I was able to retire after I paid off my house. We have a comfortable retirement!

I am legitimately the frugal person that I am because of The Tightwad Gazette. I had and raised my babies in the 90’s. All of my mama friends and family thought I was “lucky” to get to be a stay at home mom, but it wasn’t luck at all. It’s because Amy taught me hard core frugality, and my husband and I realized trying to keep up with the Jones’ wouldn’t get us to the goals that were important to us.
Now, my babies are grown, and I’m still a stay at home wife. My husband and I own our own business. We have our home paid for. 100% zero debt. We have fully funded our retirement, and have a large savings for larger items (home repairs, vehicle replacement, etc). Seriously, it’s ALL because my sister bought a copy of the TWG and loaned it to me one magical day. 😊

I watched her being interviewed on the
Donahue show years ago. The audience was so hard on her. They couldn't believe she bought used toys for her kids! I'm a big fan of her.

I bought this book secondhand after borrowing it from the library - I’ve found it invaluable.

I bought a pecan wood dining room set for $125 and when I was moving out of state five years later, I sold it for $125.
I once got a cookbook for free at a yard sale and sold it to my bookstore for a $60 book credit. I recognized it as a valuable book but that was unusual.
The other book that I loved and used a lot was Carla Emory's "Encyclopedia of Country Living".

I actually subscribed to the original Tightwad Gazette! We learned so much. Now we're retired, no debt, still tightwadding though!
