That pilot had a very strong accent. It's obvious English is not his first language. I think that needs to be factored in.

The information on Google was that the FAA and Netjets both carried out their own investigations and the pilot was suspended and underwent retraining.

I realize Tower controllers will be pissed but I think pilots shouldn’t hesitate, if in doubt, to ask Ground Control for Progressive Taxi instructions. Retired military ATC here

Even if they don’t get the number ahead of time, would they spend the whole flight wondering IF they’ll get a number on the other end? Seems like a no-win situation.

I feel like the timing of the deviation doesn't matter. The pilot is going to be thinking about it the whole flight regardless.
