Every time I go to check myself in the mirror, this old guy steps into the frame and mimics my every move. It's gotten so bad, I refuse to use any mirror anymore. I don't know where he came from or if he's still there but I'm not going back to find out.

At last; something worth reflecting on.

At my age, the mirror is not how I see myself. I "see" myself about thirty years younger! Unfortunately, no one else is fooled. :-(

We've got a seven feet high by five feet wide early 1800's mirror in our living room that came out of the ball room of a derelict mansion in Wales. Had it about 10 years and it looks enormous in our small cottage but we love it- certainly a mercury mirror and it behaves in the way described, light a few candles nearby and the effect is amazing. It sits on the floor and its original plaster frieze is a little damaged but still there, it takes two men to lift it. As a side note we have found a diary from visitors to the mansion in the 1830's and so we have the names of a few folk who looked into it back then.

I'm old enough to remember seeing old mirrors in my grandparents house that were obviously old silver mirrors and as a kid, I remember always thinking that when I looked in one of those mirrors, that I was the reflection and was watching the real person. I was only 7-8 yrs old at the time and I used to stand in front of a full length mirror and just look at the world in there for a long time. I never understood why I did that at the time, just that I was fascinated by it.

The CIA made a statement that their mission would be considered a success when everything the American people believe was a lie.

They took the silver out of the mirrors so that the Vampires couldn't be exposed by having no reflection.

"7 years bad luck" - The maker of the mirror used to have to cover the costs if they broke one OR those handling them.
They were so expensive in the outside world they could cost you 7 YEARS of wage, EACH if broken.
Why "modern" mirrors exist.

I recently also found that modern bathroom lighting often has a cooler blue-green tone that makes your skin look horrible. Switch it out for warmer kelvin temperatures in the 3000 range and you will look years younger. Makes you wonder why they would create vanity lights like this.

Call me kooky but I think mirrors can be portals. As a kid, I once saw a weird mist moving out of an old mirror in the dark. It was an antique that my mother had just purchased. She took it back and returned it from where she bought it. I'm glad she did.

I didn't expect to learn about mirrors today but this was interesting. Definitely happens with pretty much everything.
