  My dad passed away the year this came out. I remember watching this in the theatre and just started ugly crying. Especially being Hispanic, this hit hard. I&apos;d give anything to hear him call me mija again.

  In the Mexican culture, there are 3 deaths. The first is when you actually die. &nbsp;The second is when the body disappears from sight (burial, cremation, etc). &nbsp;The third death is when there is no one alive that remembers you. &nbsp;That&apos;s why the ofrenda (offering altar) with pictures is so important; family stories are handed down. &nbsp;Before photography, they painted skulls with the name of the deceased on it.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA1sH3fpRcs&amp;t=2013">33:33</a> she&apos;s angry because he left in first place, it&apos;s his fault that he was away from his family for few months touring with Ernesto and initially planning to continue with music career, but eventually changing his mind after starting to miss his family<br>So basically if he didn&apos;t leave his family at all, he wouldn&apos;t get murdered🙈

  I’m not Hispanic but family is so important to me and I’m losing my grandma to dementia. It’s been hard on my family so we cherish every moment we can spend we can have with her while she’s in hospice. This movie gets me every time but it’s so beautifully done

  If anyone doesn&apos;t cry at THAT scene, you are possibly a robot. &nbsp;:) &nbsp;It was one of my favorite films of that year. So glad it got an Oscar for the song.

  The lyrics to the last song, My Proud Corazon, sound like Hector and Miguel wrote the song together in Miguel’s dreams.
