The thing that really made Brocky's 1979 Bathurst win in the A9X was not just that he won the 1,000 km (600 mile) race by 6 laps (BTW, 6 laps of Bathurst is over 36km or almost 23 miles), but he set the lap record on the final lap, just to prove how strong the car was still going.

Many years ago I was at the servo getting some petrol in my Mazda RX-3 and an old guy in a Charger pulled up at the next pump. While I was admiring his car he hopped out and said that he really liked my coup. Car guys may have their favourites but we can appreciate others as well.

60yr old grandma from the sunshine coast. My first car was a HQ monaro, 3 on the tree, fuel guage only worked for the top half of the tank, miles on the dash. I drove it by myself, no power steering or air conditioning, with only an am radio for company, from Brisbane to Adelaide for Christmas in 1986. I loved that car! My kids gets so jealous when i show them photos.

I have had a Torana and several Monaro's back in the day. They were my everyday driver to work.

Sorry, I think I drooled a little. I was born in the 70's and my dad was a mechanic. These are the cars I fell in love with before I could walk. Wish dad had kept a few he owned over the years

I was a teenager in the late 80's and these 10 - 20 year old cars were what we drove because that's what we could afford (not the racing versions). The best thing about the era was the difference in styles between the brands. My beast was a 1977 Ford Fairmont XC with 351 v8, vinyl roof, sunroof & spoiler. A mate had a Holden Sandman panelvan, another a Valiant Charger and another loved the older HD wagon with 3 on the tree. If we only knew back then how collectable they would become.

I have a 1975 VJ 770 sitting in my shed. I have owned her for over 31 years. I bought her when I was 16 years old. My father was a Chrysler mechanic and owned a VH 770 Charger himself. As a mechanic myself I love all of the Australian muscle cars. I believe we where spoiled for choice in Australia for muscle cars.

I’ve had a LH Torana, VB Commodore, VC Commodore & a VL. They were all special in their own way. Great memories.
