Pacific Rim was Del Toro's love letter to the Japanese giant monster movies. Ultraman, Godzilla, and anime like Evangelion were heavy influences as well as many others. Shame there isn't a second one.

The triplets were all in the jaeger, in a triangle formation. The guy in the back is east to miss with everything going on.

I love every time Idris Elba opens his mouth in this movie. Dude's delivery on every single line is insane

Mana Ashida, who played the young version of Mako Mori was allowed to call director Guillermo del Toro "Totoro-san". She was so young during filming she struggled to pronounce his last name, so the director gave her permission to use the nickname taken from the Studio Ghibli character.
