America DOES have a 50 cent coin. While they are rarely seen in everyday cash transactions, the U.S. Mint continues to produce millions of them every year.

If you were to give a U.S commercial establishment a $100 dollar bill thinking it was a $10, guess what ? You would be getting your change back from that $100 even if you're the space cadet. Not all Americans are thieves.

The word dime comes from the old French word "disme" meaning "10th part", because a dime is 1/10 of a dollar. Ie, 10 cents

FYI - American currency is fabric not paper- it can be washed. Also 80% of US bills have traces of cocaine in the fabric.

I prefer the American notes because they are all the same size and since they are 6 inches in length you can use them as a handy measuring tool in a pinch.
