Even though John’s loyalty to Abigail is inaccurate, I’m not surprised as finding a dommy mommy like her back then was pretty rare

I think something important to remember is that John's very old fashioned for his time. RDR1 takes place in 1911. 1899 was really pushing it for cowboys and outlaws, but 1911 is just 3 years before WW1. Machines are being automated, cars aren't a fad and are quickly becoming an everyday sight, airplanes are a thing and they're gonna start dropping bombs soon, the roaring 20s are less than 10 years away. Everything about John is really kinda dated for his time

Regarding the the use of historical photographs, remember that back then it was a rather huge deal, one might only be photographed once in a lifetime, so people were always looking their absolute best in them. It doesn't reflect what they looked like on your average day.

in chapter 3 there is an interaction where john flirts with karen while he’s drunk. they technically weren’t together but yeah that’s… something

john’s durability is almost cartoonish. it’s insane. obviously johns pretty muscular, but he is a lanky lean fella, second tallest in the gang (besides daddy dutch) so you’d expect him to be… ‘brittle’ i guess.

I love how there a camp interactions that show he stills loves abigail and jack,he just wants to avoid the responsibilitys. He changes for the better when jack is kidnapped.<br>Edit:Also, even in early chapters at his worst,he calls out dutch for his bad behavior and blames him for their problems. He sounds completely through with him by the end of chapter 4.

The one thing i realized in my second playthrough is that apart from Hosea, John is the only guy who sees through Dutch. Bill, Javier and even Arthur are blindly loyal, but even at Chapter 2, John tells Arthur that Dutch killed a girl during the blackwater massacre.

John is like 6’4 in rdr1. When you’re in town or at a farm he towers over everyone and outfits show off his physique and the simpleton is ripped. The 4 years he spent at Beacher’s Hope took the scrawny raspy little boy we are handed after Arthur dies and turned him into a unit

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, men who wanted to appear as gentlemanly as possible had very short hair. As well as professional public servants, clerk owners, and most jobs dealing with people on a regular basis
