I know someone who took money out of his 401K just so he could get a brand new car. He has over like 10 keyboards and doesn't use them. He buys all these things and it fills up his room and most of it, he doesn't need. He makes more than me as well. If I was making his kind of money, I would not be spending it non-stop. And 300k?? That's literally a dream.

"if you're a guy in your 20s, buy a rolex. go into debt if you have to" is the exact kind of thing that you say to make me think 50x less of you

I’ll never ever ever EVER understand why you need to buy a truck if you’re not a tradie or don’t regularly tow a heavy trailer.

I’m rewatching Breaking Bad, and it’s hilarious that Skyler thought buying expensive things would arouse suspicion. Today everyone is buying things they can’t afford and it’s just the norm.

I work as a mechanic, the amount of expensive vehicles we get in that people are penny pinching to fix is insane. 22 year old dudes with $80k trucks, expensive brand new Audi’s people don’t even wanna put tires on. Every basic mom with 1.5 kids drives a giant Chevy Tahoe or Ford Explorer. Every fireman or cop has an oversized F350 they do nothing with but over spend. It’s very very real what you’re talking about.

When I was an apprentice electrician I was told by my journeyman that rather than trying to buy all my niche hand tools at once that I should treat myself to something every pay period. I followed his advice well into my apprenticeship and now I have cool tools that I could afford because I didn’t have to go into debt to get them.

CPA/economist here. The worst part about this behavior is that it creates inflation for everyone else who are responsible with spending.

I’m genuinely so happy I bought myself the car I bought.

A $1500 1999 Subaru legacy wagon with the Stickshift.

I’m only 16 and I’m legit mind boggled by how people are spending 1/2 to 2/3 the value of my car PER month just for some fancy car.

Off to a good start 😅

using your credit card like it’s your debit card is maybe the easiest “life hack (can you even call it that” ever

The worst part about being in an overspending epidemic you're not participating in, is that it will inevitably drag you down with it regardless, the working class is never immune to the consequences...
