  Actually, I think being the tarnished is much better than being the chosen undead or whatever- at least you aint hollowing with every death and turning into beef jerky.

  Being tarnished isn’t so bad. Your purpose is stated in the intro right after u make a new character “Stand before the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord”. You’re given life and grace again for the opportunity to become something bigger than u ever were, all while having nothing to lose in the process because u had nothing to begin with. The Tarnished story is one about great ambition. And depending on ur route, may also be one about dismantling an old system and begin a New Age. Pretty cool if u ask me.

  Some clearing up about the various endings:<br><br>Age of Duskborn - It does not re-establish death in the lands between (That already happened when you released the rune of death by killing maliketh). It instead creates a place in Order for those who live in death, allowing them to grow and become more than mindless zombies who are an error in the system of life in death. <br><br>Age of Order - There is some confusion over this and Age of Stars because the game is a bit loose in its use of the word &quot;Gods&quot;. They actually use it to refer to 3 groups. There is the greater Will, the sort of mortal gods like Marika and her demigod family, and the Outer Gods. Goldmask sought to figure out what was keeping the Golden Order from being the perfect system it was supposed to be and arrived at the conclusion that pretty much all its problems can be traced back to the &quot;Gods&quot; (Marika and her family) being flawed people and screwing with the Elden ring which messes with the Greater Will&apos;s plans for Order. So his mending rune of perfect order creates a barrier around the repaired elden ring which prevents anyone form messing with it while changing the &quot;Gods&quot; (Marika and her family) into mostly figureheads. The Greater Will still runs things, Marika and her family can&apos;t mess with this like Death anymore, and the Outer Gods are still around doing what they do completely unaffected by this ending because they are seperate from Order and the elden ring anyways. <br><br>Age of the Star - As mentioned, there is confusion over &quot;Gods&quot; and because sorcerers use analogies and references for larger concepts in this game Ranni&apos;s ending is even more confusing. Basically, In this case its all about the greater will. Not the outer gods. Ranni despises the golden order, two fingers, and greater will who she sees as ruining her family and controlling her fate. Her plan is to become the new god and basically usurp the vassal godhood away from the golden order....and then do nothing with it. No establishing a new order, no repairing the elden ring. Nothing. She plans to just disappear from history (With you at her side) and let whatever happens from there happen. This effectively locks the Greater will out of the lands between (No vassal god to establish order on its behalf) and prevents it from meddling with the fate of men through grace and the stars. You do not go on a trip into space with her, the long dark and lonely path she describes is referencing how mankind must choose their own destiny now without the greater will to guide and manipulate them. As in the goldmask ending, this does not effect the Outer Gods who are still free to do their thing in the Lands Between. <br><br>The other ending descriptions are correct.
