Modern scientific investigations have confirmed that oak leaves do indeed contain a high concentration of preservatives, which helps prevent rice cakes from spoiling and makes them excellent for preservation. 🌼 ( #ScientificName, #Etymology, #GenusName, #SpeciesName,) #ScientificNameOfTheOakQuercusQuercus dentata 🔹 #GenusName Quercus The Latin word derived from the compound of the Celtic words #quer (good quality, excellent) and #cuez (timber, tree). The Latin word quercus means "real, truly good timber," which carries the same meaning as the "Cham" in the Korean national name, Chamnamu (true oak). It is a #GenusName that collectively refers to the species of the 'Oak' genus, which provide hard and excellent timber with high utility value. 🔹 #SpeciesName #dentata The Latin word means "tooth-shaped" or "toothed." It very accurately depicts the large, wavy, sawtooth-like teeth developed along the edges of the leaves. 🌼 ( #Origin, #Distribution, #Habitat, #Cultivation) The oak tree is native to Korea and is distributed as far as China, Japan, Russia, and Mongolia. On the Korean Peninsula, it commonly grows in mountainous areas below an elevation of 800m, as well as on sunny slopes and dry hilly terrain throughout the country. In the Western world, starting with the UK in 1830, it has been introduced and cultivated primarily for ornamental or research purposes in renowned botanical gardens and arboretums around the world. 🌼 ( #GrowingEnvironment, #CultivationCharacteristics) The oak tree prefers sunny locations where sunlight shines down most intensely, and it grows vigorously in fertile sandy loam or loam soil that is deep and well-drained. It is a robust tree with excellent cold tolerance that withstands even severe cold. Oak trees grow well even near the seaside and are sun-loving trees that thrive in areas prone to frequent wildfires, particularly due to their ability to sprout from tree stumps. 🌼 ( #Propagation, #Propagation Methods) The most common method of propagating oak trees is seed propagation, where well-ripened acorns are collected in the autumn and sown immediately. The collected seeds are stratified outdoors to prevent drying and are then sown in the spring or direct-sown in the autumn. Superior varieties are also propagated through grafting. Since it is common for squirrels to hide acorns in the ground and then forget their location, causing those acorns to grow into oak trees, oak saplings are rarely planted when tending to mountains. 🌼 ( #Size, #Height, #Trunk, #Bark, #Branches, #GrowthForm) The oak tree is a deciduous tall tree (arbor) that grows to a height of 20–25 meters and a diameter of about 70 centimeters.
