The car from my childhood as my parents owned a 1962 220SEb Coupe from about '68 to '71. It was cream colour with red perforated leather. Being very young I remember the Britax lap belts in the rear, although I preferred sitting on the armrest looking through the bonnet star and being fascinated with the clap hand wipers when raining, quite hypnotic, or sleeping on the parcel shelf!. My father was a mechanic and owned a garage, so did the maintenance himself. He had a heart attack in 1970 and the Merc was too heavy to drive as didn't have power steering and it was a manual. He sold it to the buyer of his garage who undertook some restoration of the car as rust was getting a hold by then. Last part of the registration was VPK, so wonder if it survives?.<br>Nice to see them as they really were something very special and still a handsome vehicle now. 🙂<br>edit: My mother struggled to drive it due to the lack of power steering too. Love this, i bought a 1966 W111 250se Cabriolet piece of shit in 2001 and over the next 18 years brought it back and when the auction came, I realized a generous profit that I still am spending. Good vehicles ,WHUT?
