  Notes for myself<br>1. Rule of thirds. &nbsp;Center thirds are reserved for authoritative figures. &nbsp;For landscapes/horizons, place subject on either horizontal line.<br>2. Balance. &nbsp;Characters and objects add weight to the image. &nbsp;Balance the other half of your frame without your subject with a background object like a lamp. <br>3. Depth. &nbsp;*aperture*. &nbsp;Separate subject from background/foreground.<br>4. Leading lines. &nbsp;Have lines built into the environment like handrails or wall designs or wood planks to guide the eye.<br>5. Symmetry. &nbsp;Can be fused with leading lines.<br>6. Dominant Subject. &nbsp;Audience needs to know what the main subject is. &nbsp;Fill dead space with nondistracting stuff (combine with leading lines/depth).<br>7. Head room/Leading room. &nbsp;Head room is space between top of frame and top of subject&apos;s head (in an interview, eyes are about 2/3rds up). &nbsp;Leading room is the space between their eyes and the frame wall that&apos;s in the direction they&apos;re looking at (also about 2/3rds of space). &nbsp;You want more room in front of subject instead of behind. &nbsp;Many scenes are shot so that subject&apos;s eyes are at the top left/right cross of the rule of thirds. (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVBc2Pg81rw&amp;t=682">11:22</a>). &nbsp;If subject is moving, camera should move with them.<br>8. Break the rules for story reasons. &nbsp;Give more head room to make subject feel insignificant. &nbsp;No looking room to feel awkward. &nbsp;Show char development by implementing rules later. &nbsp;<br><br>TYSM for the video!!

  Another tip for the “leading room” thing: if you want to make an uneasy feeling like something is following or about to attack your subject, you can give them a bunch of follow room/ space behind them🤘🏻

  I would say &quot;Don&apos;t learn too much if you really want to make something creative&quot; and I can give 100s of reasons but 2 of them are most important: 1. The more you learn more you get &quot;in the box&quot; not &quot;out of the box&quot; &amp; 2. You might never start a project. So, only learn something that you are struggling with while doing your project.

  This makes so much more sense than all other explanations of the rule of 3rds i&apos;ve seen.<br>They always talk about &quot;put subjects inside the boxes&quot;, but that never &quot;felt&quot; right.<br>What you guys are talking about here, putting subjects on the LINES or intersections, makes much more sense.
