My father stopped paying my college tuition when I wanted to change colleges. Took me several years to finish on MY own. years later after my parents, divorced, and the house was in my mother's name, I inherited it and then I saved that money for my children's education. They could go to any school they wanted.

They are ignorant, small-minded, insecure people who feel threatened by anyone with an education and confidente in themselves. They want to keep people as small as they are. Truly sad.

I remember my parents refusing to pay a dorm room deposit when I had more than enough in scholarships to cover full tuition. I called the school and they let me pay off the deposit with a part time job on campus. Just for the record, it can't hurt to ask.
