If Yellow Knife is dependant on a single ferry, then there should have been a contingency reserve so that they don't immediately have a problem if the ferry cannot operate.

I flew on and worked on C-46s for years during the sixties. They were fairly good transports with about a 10,000lb load capacity. However, they were a pain to work on at times, always something going wrong,
