The explanation of face to path vs face to target was enlightening. This was a very important distinction. Thanks.

Excellent stuff as always. I would disagree that trying to hit a straight shot is the worst thing you can do though. Every single player has a certain dispersion to their shots. Someone who prefers a draw will hit many draws, but will have some straight shots, and even fades. Reverse for someone who prefers a fade. From the time I started playing I pretty much hit straight shots. I then tried for years to hit a draw to chase more distance, lost a lot of control. Then went to a fade with similar results. From doing a lot of testing on this over the last 5 years I’ve found my tightest dispersion is with the straight shot. My biggest dispersion front to back is with a fade, and my biggest dispersion left and right is with a draw. I would recommend people do their own testing to see which one gives them the best dispersion, that is, predictability. I think people fear the straight shot because the dispersion tends to be fairly equal left and right. But if that dispersion is 10 yards with a 7 iron, compared to a 15 yard dispersion with a draw, or a 20 yard dispersion with a fade, the straight shot is the best option for consistency.

For the curve back to the target, it’s extremely important to release the club properly(or roll your wrists) after you hit the ball.

Rob, I’ve seen this explained before but not quite so well. For years I’ve missed the green left, almost certainly because I’ve set the face square to target - because that’s what you think you should do ! I played yesterday and missed the green every time, I’d forgotten all about this principle - thanks for the reminder, I’m gradually moving towards S&T !

As a fellow S&T’er.. who converted to the system about 3-4 years ago. I can say that you are the best and providing a technical lesson that is easy to understand. Minus last year, I have been playing my best golf. Your crushing the can video helped me playing good golf again. I shot a 92 yesterday. I know I am on my breaking 90 regularly. Last year I was shooting 100-110 before the crushing the can video. After I started shooting 94-98.. continuous improvement is my goal this year!!

A camera shot from the top would be very beneficial here. Also carefully swinging the club with the magnet alignment rod will show your club face angle versus your club path during the swing. As you said , the relationship of these two things is very important when you're coming into the ball. As well as that other little piece of pie after the ball. This is great information!
