A whole city block in Melbourne, Australia was shut down a few years back for a suspected gas leak. The fire brigade couldn't find any trace of a gas leak but tracked the smell down to a Durian that an international traveller had left in a cupboard in their room.

I remember my first time trying a durian. I was prepared for the worst and somehow it wasn't bad at all. After a few bites it even tasted good. Later I learnt that there are many kinds and all have subtle taste variations. I quite like durian now. I typically buy the most expensive type and it's always pretty good. I like them fresh, not frozen. Frozen taste funky.

i gotta give him props. Most ppl just quit if they gag like he does, but he kept going in for more. That's the type of guy that'll handle foods that have an acquired taste. The guy on the right on the other hand is another beast.

The reason why it's so spiky on the outside is because it's getting to warn you not to eat it. If it could speak it would say "Stay away!!!!!!"

And THAT is why this fruit is popular. It's a party favor, a dare, and a snack all at once. It's comparable to trying to eat spicy that your friends can't tolerate.

My dad eats this like Jello, like Chips, like a hardcore snack lol although my mom REFUSES to let him store it in the house and REFUSES to allow him to cut it in the house. He will cut it up and let it air out a bit outside before he brings it in and eats it. He will sometimes add it to ice and milk

I'm one of the few Indonesians who don't like the taste and smell of durian. I don't eat durian, but I'm used to the smell. There's no one in my family who doesn't like this fruit except me, that's why I'm used to the smell.
