  How else they be able to produce hundreds of thousands if not millions of bottles sold all over the planet. It’s numbers game end of the day.

  My father was the Director of the company in Australia that bottled Teachers in Australia. It was shipped out in huge stainless steel containers to be locally bottled. They would add water, caramel and a compound that would make you vomit is you drank too much to avoid alcohol poisoning. The company also used to have carpet snakes to catch mice, that used to set off the burglar alarms. There was an employee that had to catch the snakes every morning. One morning they found a snake in one of the scotch vats that had thousands of litres of undiluted product in it. &nbsp;The directors held a meeting to decide if they could bottle a limited run of &apos;Special branded&apos; bottles. The head office in the UK decided that the whole lot had to be disposed of. When they disposed of it by dumping it into the stormwater drains it set off a series of alarms, that ended up with the fire department at their building, that just happened to be across the road from Sydney&apos;s blood bank. After that they were forced to stop bottling all spirits at that location. The Fire Brigade calculated that the explosive power of all that alcohol in the centre of the city would of been catastrophic if it ever caught fire.

  I am shocked. The cheapest supermarket whisky does not come from exclusive barrels aged 25 years at minimum. How dare they. When I pay a cool $10 for the bottle I expect excellence.

  I abandoned Bells, W&amp;M, Famous Grouse and all the rest decades ago. What shocks me is the foreign ownership of the mass market scotch! Funny how such huge numbers of people waste their money on rubbish thinkiing they&apos;re getting quality, it&apos;s brand snobbery at it&apos;s worst.

  Some 15-20 years ago, a bar owners misused the lack of strict regulations when selling spirits in form of having counterfeit bottles of popular brands (most of them were whiskies). They did it to that extent that they didn&apos;t even hide it, while the customers were fully aware of it (and kept ordering those &quot;drinks&quot;, though). Today, the whisky bottles are original, but absolutely nobody orders them anymore. <br>It&apos;s sad that distilleries nowadays are trying to almost counterfeit themselves. Most of these brands will shut down the production in some next five years, while only a handful of top-shelf brands will continue to produce expensive whiskies intended to be used only for &quot;special occasions&quot;.

  As a Scot if it says blended on the bottle its for cleaning drains you want a single or double malt aged to perfection.
