I used to do air duct cleaning and offered dryer vent cleaning as an additional service. In one house, I noticed that the furnace filter nearest to the utility room was full of dryer lint and mentioned it to the lady of the house. She said it couldn't be because her dryer was working fine. I told her that I would clean it for free if she would pick up the pile that it would leave. What she got to pick up was a pile that looked like a volcano about 2 feet high and about 3 feet across. That was just what landed because there was a cloud of lint that blew down the driveway and across the street.

you should throw a tote under the vent outside when you are clearing it. Much easier cleanup.
