Maybe I'm just weird, but I kind of like the idea of each solar system having vastly different laws of physics and magic from each other. It really makes the worlds feel chaotic and unique, and I love it when reality is more of a suggestion than a physical law.

I’m starting to think that, just maybe, people like Spelljammer.

I must have missed the part in the video where he explained WHY this is so stupid, because all I hear is how awesome it is.

isnt the "Pseudo Science" the point?

This isnt our space, this is what the greek thought was space, and it was supposed to be weird, wild and strange.

Like that's the draw.

The crystal spheres and phlogiston is a lot more interesting then if space worked exactly as it does in real life just with magic.

Bro Spelljammers wacky cosmology is LITERALLY the reason I thought it was worth looking into. Personally, I love it, and am hella surprised you didn't seem to

All that and still didn't mention the actual Spelljammer. Like the Great Spelljammer, the singular ship the whole setting is named after, and everyone is kinda chasing after.

idk honestly I really like strange and esoteric cosmologies. Much more appealing to me than just regular ol space.

It is fucking TRAGIC how badly 5e fumbled it's version of Spelljammer.

The core idea of the setting is that it's Retrofuturistic. The designers at TSR were told "make a space setting" and decided to make something creative and unique instead of just D&D in space.

That's why you have weird old pseudoscience stuff like the Crystal Spheres and Phlogiston. Because it's meant to be how someone in a medieval fantasy world would imagine space travel.

But the 5e version of the setting was pretty much missing any interesting rules for the titular vehicles, which are the entire point of the setting.

Always been a fan of the spelljammer setting precisely because of the really wild and esoteric ideas it uses as a base.

I find it very intriguing when a fantasy world works like ancient philosophers thought it did.

Did he ever actually explain why the things he called dumb were dumb? Except for the multiverse part.
