  My daddy described her as a &quot;broad&quot; I had never heard that term and asked him to explain. He told me a tough woman who wasn&apos;t afraid &nbsp;to go after what she wanted! So at 9 years old I told everyone that would listen that I was going to be a &quot;broad&quot; when I grew up. Omg. Lol

  I remember one interview she did with someone, they asked why she had a mirror over her bed. She said &quot;So I can see how I&apos;m doin&quot;. Gotta luv this woman!

  She was beautiful, inside and out, witty, intelligent, and the fact that she was in her 40s at the height of her fame, when other women were &quot;retired&quot;, says so much. We owe her so much.

  They forgot to mention WHY Ms West bought that huge Hollywood Hotel/ Apartment complex. &nbsp; She was dating a African -American Boxer and the concierge downstairs refused to let him into the hotel to see her... so SHE BOUGHT THE PLACE. &nbsp; She was ahead of the times.

  She shook the cage when women were expected to be seen and not heard. She definitely needs more recognition,in my opinion.

  Thanks to Mae for bringing us Cary Grant and others, she was a &nbsp;show business genius and was responsible for keeping Paramount open and having it make money. She was terrific and there will never be another like her. &nbsp;RIP Mae you are missed.
