I especially heavily agree with your point about the "I only believe in parts of the Bible I agree with" thing. In that skit it's presented as a bad idea, as a non-christian idea, and yet... This is what every single christian does. Each and every one. And I feel confident making such a bold generalization specifically because the Bible is just THAT contradictory. It is not humanly possible to agree with every single verse, story and command.<br>For example, you cannot truly agree with the idea that God is the ultimate moral good, and at the same time agree with God commanding slavery. You have to either deny that God commands it, or do the most impressive tap dancing and mental gymnastics in your mind to convince yourself that maybe slavery wasn't actually as bad as they all say. You either don't believe every single thing the Bible says (because you literally cannot), or you decieve yourself

The brainwashing of children is how Christianity persists. I was a Christian for 40 years until Christian nationalists opened my eyes to all the hatred and insanity Christianity had to offer. I always hated how women were treated in the bible and in the church, but as a brainwashed person, I accepted it as truth. <br>Thank you for what you do. You have helped me to see clearly.

Ultimately, there is no “real” Christian because the Bible is a glorified Choose Your Own Adventure book. That’s why I always chuckle when Christians accuse other Christians of being bad/phony Christians.
