Was in Uganda 9 years ago, this brought back memories of this beautiful country, nice people and testy healthy fresh food, I love this country.

Actually the northern route you avoided would have not only saved you time but taken you through the game-filled plains north of the falls, whilst avoiding turning back to Kampala. From the falls, you cross the nearby Paraa bridge downstream. Even keeping to the main road without driving into the game tracks, lots of animals are visible, since it is wide open savanna plains for about 110km through Nwoya, rejoining the Gulu highway at Karuma. Then eastwards to Kamdini-Lira-Soroti-Mbale-Tororo-Malaba. All those towns have their own vibe, offering a chance to see other areas without backtracking on the same route (Kampala/Jinja). Decent accommodation/campsites along the way. Mbale itself is the hub for Uganda's eastern tourist circuit that encompasses the likes of Mt. Elgon, Nyero, Sipi falls, and a final stunning goodbye offered by Tororo rock....Enjoyd your content manze
