During the ten months of the Reign of Terror, about 16,594 people were executed after trial, with thousands more dying in prison or massacres, bringing the death toll to as high as 50,000.

The poor paid taxes, the rich did not. Sound familiar?

Even when desperate, the 98% gave the king chance after chance after chance and he STILL never considered changing his ways... Seems important to remember.

The phrase "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it' is not about some crazy history theory. It's about how human nature has not changed in thousands of year, so anything relevant then is still relevant now.

22:26 This is the part that scares me. 85% of deaths were common people. Remember this. Even when the poor rise up, they still pay the most.

History repeats itself. Same characters but different actors.

The thing I cant get over is how the peasantry elected lower nobility and some clergy to represent them. The lower nobility actually weren't trying to help the peasantry, they just wanted better position for themselves. Over time they all lost their heads and positions. They thought they could harness the anger of the peasantry for their own benefit. They failed in that endeavor. A lot of similarities going on now.

I remember in middle school my teacher was trying to teach us about the Scarlet pimpernel. Once she described him I said he sounds like he's just helping rich people escape accountability. She looked at me and said exactly.😂😂😂

And it could have been prevented if they had just released the files...
