  The best man in this film was the vendor who gave Charlie a job. You cannot make me believe otherwise. He gave a child a means to help support his family when they are struggling, gave him real life working experience, and he helped him flee the overwhelming masses when he received the ticket. He only helped Charlie in every scene he was a part of.

  I've met Gene Wilder several times. He was a resident in my home town and a customer of a video store I used to manage back in the early 90's. One of the nicest and quietest people you'll ever meet. When he came in the store you almost didn't know he was there, he would quietly peruse the shelves or would call ahead looking for a particular film to watch. Sometimes you'd get another patron come up to the counter and ask "isn't that Gene Wilder?" or there would be a child in the store who would recognize him as Willy Wonka. There was one time while going through the movie shelves he started yelling hysterically like he did to Grandpa Joe because he found a movie we had starring himself and Donald Sutherland that he didn't even have in his own collection called "Start The Revolution Without Me". I told him we would get him one and in a few days we had it for him, gave it to him free of charge. Such a wonderful man, may he rest in peace.

  Gene Wilder almost didn’t agree to this role because he didn’t consider himself a singer. He then proceeded to nail one of the most iconic songs in cinema history

  fun fact: gene wilder said in a interview he wouldnt do the movie unless he could do the cane bit when u first see him he said "at first you see a man with a limp and he does a front flip to offset then your view of him from that point on, you dont know if hes lying or telling the truth which adds mystery to him. which i think is brilliant we miss you Gene
