  My guess, regarding why lying isn&apos;t legal, is because outside of pointing to an instance where lying caused great harm, all of us lie about so many things, as well as make mistakes, that it would absolutely destroy the judicial system as they tried to parse through 50 billion cases a day, and then there would be massive outcries of unequal enforcement.

  If lying was illegal, it would stifle free speech in a lot of situations, like if youre uncertain about something you can be afraid to answer because it could be seen as a lie

  If I had to guess, the issue was probably the whole &quot;Not therapy btw Kappa&quot; and since the healthy gamer team made this a lot clearer with the interviewees and with the public, it is not an issue anymore.

By 1920 it was slowly raised to 16-18 except Georgie where it was 14. Age of consent being 18 is barely a 100 year old law which sounds pretty wild.

  Edgar Allan Poe married his cousin who was thirteen while he was twenty-seven... I think the Victorian England had it at age twelve with parental consent, but also in Scotland it was without parental consent... The Victorians also DID notably have very different views on this stuff than we do now, like back then they had lots of babies and young ppl without clothes on birthday cards and everything since it was symbolic of &apos;purity&apos; and &apos;innocence&apos; (If I had to guess this&apos;d be a perception relating to the whole tabula rosa idea but could be wrong)... That&apos;s also why Lewis Carroll often gets called a &apos;pedo&apos; just because he had a bunch of photographs he took of people not yet of age who were in various states of undress including having nothing... (That and also his friendships with various young people including Alice Liddell who he had favoritism for it seems, BUT there is absolutely no evidence it was anything beyond platonic and idk if he photographed her or not)... There&apos;s really no evidence, it kinda seems like Lewis Carroll was just a product of his culture and the times and the accusations just come from an age well after he died where psychologists decided to go trying to diagnose a bunch of historical figures with different mental states despite not being able to really talk to them given they had died... And these psychologists don&apos;t always have a good understanding of Victorian or other cultures... <br><br>Anyway, ten is definitely quite young though even by like Medieval standards... I am sure there were examples of it that happened, but also it wasn&apos;t the norm... People were generally waiting for a woman to reach puberty and women generally would not reach it at that young age (even more so back then, unlike now where it&apos;s becoming more normal for earlier puberty)... Additionally, while people tended to draw the minimum line at puberty, it was typically not till they were adults that they&apos;d actually be married as the norm... So like, while you could perhaps marry a person who is like twelve, people would still potentially see it as a bit weird... Especially if its your cousin or something, it&apos;s like, sure, you can, but just kinda weird...<br><br>That&apos;s pretty much my understanding from how I&apos;ve looked into it...
