In defense of Reaction Speed, the lines and checks that "don't fit to it", have something in common. They're compulsive, quick realizations and, again, emotional compulsions, that come faster than any other skill could react. Which is why it brings up the figurines - detective doesn't have any particular attachment to figurines, but they're connected to his Ex, and he instinctively goes "oh, that's what she likes so i should get them for her", and with La Revachoilere it goes "oh she talks fast, she's worried", where in cases of Half Light it senses the cause of speed, or Rhetoric analyzing the speech pattern itself

I feel like reaction speed isn't just about reacting first, but also about Harry's muscle memory & habits, so a scene in the beginning where reaction speed calls our detective "Harry" makes sense, because he did something like that before and a lot (calling himself Harry in his head, introducing himself & asking cop questions), to the point where it became a second nature to ask questions

An excellent breakdown (and, I agree, Reaction Speed could be better utilized in the narrative, though, like Perception, its main importance is in triggering other checks). I personally think you missed one important factor in your analysis: Reaction Speed is the linchpin skill for Modus: Mullen, which demonstrates to the player what your role is when you, likewise, enter Modus: Du Bois. Reaction Speed is the gamer skill, and, although you don't exactly need your twitch reflexes when playing Disco Elysium, reacting to important details before they pass you by in the flood of well-written text is still a relatively important ability for the player to possess. That's why Reaction Speed is the lead Godly check in le dernier bal: Revachol Needs Gamers. (And, speaking of French, please stop putting an L into Savoir Faire. Also, speaking of Modus: Mullen, the hat to give Acele isn't the bum hat, it's Dick Mullen's fedora - Annette will miraculously find a second one to give you!)

Personally Interfacing is the most disappointing to me. It’s established as the technology and mechanical skill but it’s mostly used for fine motor abilities and using your hands for delicate tasks. While being able to use your hands and fingers for tasks is important I was hoping for opportunities to use and fiddle with the unique tech of the world and it seemed like other skills like Encyclopedia and Logic had more input in those areas than Interfacing. Also I think Hand/Eye Coordination should of been the skill that deals with fine motor tasks over Interfacing, and as result the two skills feel a bit too similar in some regards and hurts Interfacing’s ability to stand out.

I think reaction speed could be goated if it could stop failures from even happening, like when you fumble glaasje it goes
"I wanna have-" Stop! You're making an idiot out of yourself.

33:30 conceptualization doesn't identify with Harry anymore. The name it is succeeding towards figuring out is Tequila Sunset.

My last run of disco was a motorics build and I was so disappointed. Not only are there so few yellow checks in the game, the ones that are there often come with debuffs. Like every early game composure check is practically scripted to fail
