  Saw this when it originally aired on PBS in 94 and it made quite an impression on me..  I have been trying to find it for years and was pleasantly surprised that if finally showed up here on youtube.  RIP Quentin C Aanenson.

  Thank you so much for posting this documentary.  This was very good to watch. It is incredible what Mr. Aanenson and others like him endured in the fight for freedom. A true hero. I am glad he shared the stories, so that we may not forget history.

  I recorded this on VHS when it first aired in 93 on PBS. I have since transferred it to DVD. <br>What an incredible man! Every day he woke up and looked death in the eye and won. Today people loose their minds if WiFi goes out. How weak we have become!

  Thanks for sharing your experiences in air combat. <br>Children and grandchildren should watch what Americans went through in war .<br>The story brings up emotional feelings .<br>I&apos;m 72 years old and have watched many videos of the enormous pain and suffering USA warriors went through .<br>Horrible situations of life and death ...<br>Slow painful &nbsp;dying or gone in a snap of a finger .<br>Or those who were wounded the rest of their lives .<br>Veterans need more respect from this younger generation. <br>Thank you again for details .

  I still have a VHS tape of this show that I bought from the family. I have shared it with all of my family members who said it was the best ww2 pilot story they have ever seen. I am glad to see it on YouTube.

  Like many of the others who have commented on this video series by Quentin Aanenson, I first watched this documentary on PBS during the early 1990s. &nbsp; It resonated deeply with me because, like Aanenson, my father (who passed away in March 2019, age 93-and-a-half) was also a U.S. Army World War II combat veteran of the European Theater of Operations (ETO), albeit on the ground (from Normandy to Czechoslovakia on V-E Day). &nbsp; And I&apos;ve also been fascinated by the air war since I was a preteen in the 1970s.<br><br>A few years after this documentary was broadcast, I was fortunate enough to see Mr. Aanenson in person at an event at the National Air &amp; Space Museum in Washington DC. &nbsp; Like many in the audience that day, when Mr. Aanenson&apos;s name was announced, I stood as a mark of respect for that man and applauded him for his service in the Army Air Corps.

  Wow wow wow, thank you so much for sharing your story. It always blows my mind to think you guys were so excited to fly into war. Takes a special sort of man to volunteer to go to war back then and today. I can&apos;t tell you and all our military personnel over the years how much you all mean to me and my family, no words can express my gratitude and admiration ❤
