Darth Gravid was a Lord of the Sith so powerful and steeped in the tools and knowledge of their arts that he was able to delude himself that the power of the Sith could be combined with the silly compassion of the Jedi. He was such a powerful Sith that even at his most unstable, he nearly killed his apprentice, who stayed true to the way of the Sith.<br><br>In his pursuit of both the Dark Side and the Light of the Jedi, he broke his mind... and destroyed countless powerful, unique, irreplaceable relics and techniques of our Order... In the end, his apprentice DID kill him, but... it was a pyrrhic victory at best, because the knowledge was forever lost... And the Sith would forever lose access to our strongest, darkest skills.<br><br>Ironic...   The fall of Darth Gravid happened because he sought to reconcile the two opposites as they were rather than seeking a sinthesis of the two. &quot;One cannot hold hatred compassionately; one cannot be selfish for selfless reasons.&quot;<br><br>He was indeed a visionary, but chose the wrong means to achieve balance.

  Gravid did possibly the Galaxy a favor given it set back the Sith so much. Imagine if say Palpatine or Plagueis had all that lost knowledge... Palpatine was already a monster with rediscovering and inventing in the EU books/lore. If he had access to all those other Sith rituals, techniques, etc it would be hard to imagine him losing. Outside perhaps getting devoured by Abeloth or beaten by a full potential unbound Anakin.
