Again, I repeat myself: Scriabin's music is magic, it takes you to other dimensions. He is so underrated. Ask aanyone and they'll know who Chopin is, but name "Scriabin" and you'll get a big question mark stamped on their face. So unfair.

I feel for every composer there’s a month that describes them. Scriabin is September for sure. When the days start getting darker…

I'm surprised no one here mentions the affinity with Debussy, to me more striking than with Chopin.

Every single one of these preludes are structural, musical, emotional, and (often) subjective masterpieces. I've listened to this set of preludes everyday for about 3 weeks now, and I've barely even begun to internalise Scriabins genius.

From memory, Scriabin had an injury to his right hand as a young man. You often see his left hand part compensating with rather hard leaps. His music is sublime!

“And originality is only a measure of historical importance, not musical quality” - Thank you for this quote. So easy to forget that as a pianist and composer

Somehow I'd never heard all of these preludes as a set before. I can definitely hear the Chopin influence, but there's a languidity and rhythmic freedom that marks it as Scriabin's, even if it doesn't have the out-of-this-world harmonies of his late works. There's something about Scriabin's style that makes his pieces uniquely his--I think the rhythmic freedom and polyrhythms Ashish mentioned, as well as a certain luminosity of sound.

Scriabin was the definition of a genuis. Its like if Einstein starting playing the piano. So smooth, everything mathematically and creatively perfect.

20:31 No. 15 is the clear highlight in this set, for me. What a terrific landscape it creates.
