Did Lloydy actually answer the Longmire to Essendon title?

So there's a concern that the top clubs keep pinching the bottom teams star players through free agency. Answer = take away compensation and royally screw the bottom teams. Doesn't make sense

Huss needs a solid year in the VFL. Small forwards need to tackle, crumb & kick goals. Huss doesn’t do enough of any of those things. Different proposition if Essendon got Sweid in last years draft. He’s been running around for Peel Thunder. Can’t get a game at Fremantle. He would’ve played most of 2026 at Essendon. Handy in the midfield. Kondogiannis is a solid one. Needs more games. He’s not the Ridley replacement. That’s Sellers. But as a backup to Redman & Prior? Yes. The jury is out on Unwin. 2027 is a “prove it year”. A bit hit & miss. Put some muscle on. Borderline. Same with Nguyen. Learn the art of pressure. One more year as a Cat B rookie. Clarke is a gun. Small/mid utility. Johnson has real talent. He’ll survive.

Good call on Longmire. Sydney weren’t using his talents or passion. The role at Essendon suits Horse to a T. Footballing mentor to the coaching staff, game day strategist, list builder, cultural change & skills manager. He doesn’t want to be a Head Coach. Been there. Done that. Won a flag. Time to pass on the knowledge to the next generation. His only interest was Tasmania as a new team. He doesn’t suit admin. Not his passion.

Free agency favours the top end clubs. Needs a rethink. I like Sam’s idea of no compensation but restrict it. No compensation for top 10 teams. The bottom teams need it. And, if you make a prelim you can’t take a free agent without sending a top 23 player the other way.

Zane Duursma was over drafted. He wasn’t a top ten. Second rounder at best. A third in a trade to Melbourne. He’s North’s version of Tsatas.

free agents chasing silverware is a blight on the game, it's kind of pathetic and makes the afl less interesting
