Crying today. April 8 is my birthday, never celebrate them. But was going to celebrate this one because it marks 20 Years since I left an abusive childhood home by an angry single father in my teens. All I wanted was a nice dinner, flowers, friends and a day off work. But that won't happen, I work in Healthcare and will be on the front lines against this virus on my birthday. I scraped and struggled for 20 years all to take care of myself and I did it.

It's rare that a live version of a song is better than the recorded version but this is absolutely one of those times

Imagine just being able to show up with nothing but your guitar and yourself and perform at this caliber. Wow.

Thank you Tracy Chapman. You share a common journey that we all know intimately whether we are black, white, green or orange. It's heart breaking and lifting at the same time as all human experience is. I hope you have found joy and hope as you deserve. From Canada with Love.

It's a crime that she isn't considered one of the greatest female vocalists of all time. She is also an incredible songwriter, which goes way beyond this song.

I heard this song. I was in an abusive relationship, 3 babies, no money, no job, no qualifications and so young. I literally had nothing. I heard this song, listened to the words. I left, and didn't look back took my babies and started a new life. This song saved my life.
