I'm loving the fact that you have the Artscroll commentaries on your shelf in the open scene!

Thankfully not all. I remember listening to a sermon by Max D. Younce about Jonah and his prayer in the second chapter, and in there, Dr. Younce actually pointed out where the KJV has mistranslations (involving Sheol and Hades being mistranslated as "Hell" whilst the RSV translated them correctly), showing that while he was KJV preferred he still was humble enough to show that that translation, whilst very beautiful, does still have its flaws.

Well, if YOU believed you had an 'advanced revelation' that could correct the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, you'd probably be a bit intense too! But in all seriousness, I really appreciate those who just prefer the KJV for its beauty but respect other translations. It’s only when the 'demonic/can't be saved' rhetoric starts that it becomes a serious issue. Until then, I just hope they really enjoy their wimples and unicorns!

The KJV-only rabbit hole is very dangerous to go down, having wasted a few years down there myself after I first got saved.  The biggest problem with it, for me, is it creates a real isolationism.  I've still got friends that are KJV-only and they're completely cut off from the rest of Christendom as they want nothing whatsoever to do with anything linked to any other translation.  It's sad, really, as we're all one body in Christ.

I actually saw a video where a preacher said he could correct the original Hebrew and Greek from the KJV. I was shocked at the arrogance and the limited mindset of him. This is what happens when extremism gets ahold of someone and become so dogmatic about a subject.

Brilliant post. I have my KJV and am amazed how closely it follows the Douay-Rheims. Plus, an explanation of NKJV was brilliant.

I have read KJV most of my life and Love the text, I recently purchased two Humble Lamb NKJV and read 1 so far cover to cover and and Love it also, this has made me order a NLT to read and see the differences and I may also order the BSB. But I still Love my KJV version.   I WILL ALSO SAY I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS and look forward to watching further.

  1. Why did King James hate The Geneva Bible and feel the need to publish his own?  2.  Why did he use words like "church" rather than congregation to translate Ekklesia?  3. Why do the KJV-only act as though Paul wrote the KJV yet shun the original 1611 KJV with its Apocrypha?  4. Why did it remove (or fail to translate) all of the "mello"s?  5. Why did it use the generic English word "hell" (and thus create a composite) when distinct words with different meanings lie behind the word.  6.  The same inconsistency lies with "world" = does that mean something more regional like oikomene or kosmos, or the land/dirt?   "A decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all of the [oikomene] should be taxed."  Colossians 1:23.

I'm KJV Preferred.  I'm not against anybody who uses another translation.  They should read the one they're most comfortable with.

I’m somewhere between level 2-3.  I appreciate your carefulness in explaining it. Most paint us all with a broad brush like we are all Riplinger or Ruckman.  I have been mocked for being somewhere between KJV strongly preferred - KJV onlyist.

I read Arthur Farstad's book. It is very good. NKJV is my "goto" Bible. I also read other translations. Currently on 15th translation. My first Bible was KJV. I still have it. My parents gave it to me on my 10th birthday. 😇
