  A number of times he went to where my severely handicapped brother was, either at Tokanui or later the IHC houses in Cambridge, and took him and others to Te Kuiti to a match, or to sit on a horse, in a supervised manner. <br><br>When we discussed it, not long before he passed, it was clear that he was about more than just the rugby. His involvement in the IHC calf rearing scheme is still talked about today.

  What a great player. I saw him in the early 60’s coming to South Africa, stepping of the aeroplane in a small town. I was a young boy.. awesome experience, seeing these AB’s… giants

  I was fortunate to watch him play a couple of his All Black games on TV, they were in Black and White then. I got to meet him years later, he was invited to be our club M.C. His speeches were halerious, standing ovation by all who were there. R.I.P. Colin and Vera Meads. ❤❤❤

  I&apos;m South African, and the guy was a beast. He was a big strong man, and I had the privilege of shaking his hand, which was the biggest hand I have ever shaken in my life. They were massive. I still rate him amongst the greatest locks I&apos;ve ever watched.

  I was on a Meat Truck, deliverin around North Island from Wellington to Hamilton and ended on Fridays in Taupo. I heard that he was speaking in Town, climbed the Stairs and The Great Msn was sitting there. I asked if I could Shake his Hand, The Great Ball Carrying Paw. He Cheerfully Did so and I left - Totally Happy for an Indelible Memory. At VUWRFC in 1980s, some of my Clowns from the Age Grade Teams had a Five Man Miniclub: &quot;Five Go Mad On Meads&quot; and wandered around carrying Tanalised Fence Posts and talking about &quot;Man God Meads&quot;. RIP.

  I saw him in the queue at Maclean Park Napier, , he gave an anti &nbsp;apartheid protester a whack with his black brolly😂😂😂 &nbsp;l was only about 11, he was in line to get into the game, just as we were. Different era.❤❤ &nbsp;He was always admired in NZ, a legend. Loved.
