What Sits Directly Above and Below The Sun?

I'm 76 years old, and I still remember lying on the grass as a boy, staring up at the sky and wondering what was beyond the Sun. Back then, nobody around me had the answers. To think that decades later I can sit in my living room and watch a video explaining what lies above and below our star feels nothing short of miraculous.

Never thought about how little we’ve actually seen our own solar system from above, this feels strangely peaceful and mind-blowing at the same time

This thought has crossed my mind so many times! Why not up? Why not down? Why always around? But this makes so much sense, a gravity current so to speak, and the fuel issues of pushing against the grain and out of said current. Thanks!

I'm amazed at myself for never having thought about this issue!

I do appreciate the fact that the solar system gives me for my birthday a free trip around the Sun every year.

TLDR: The Sun pulls us in, the centrifugal force throws us out, and everything is moving sideways at absurd speeds - flying up is like trying to jump out of a spinning washing machine.

Looking into a mirror behind you from a mirror held in front of you…… the mirrors bend off into infinity, no matter how hard you try to counter the image and keep the reflection ‘in line’.
I’ve always found that frustrating.
It’s like a glimpse into the multiverse.
