The singer Joe Walsh, originally did this song as a solo artist for the soundtrack to the movie "The Warriors". The Eagles wanted to do a version so they did on their last album. Joe's version is good but this version is excellent.

Joe Walsh's vocals were probably double tracked with extra reverb on this mix to thicken it a bit. That's probably why you think his voice was "processed." They didn't have computerized autotune back then.

The Eagles' members started out as session musicians and singer Linda Ronstadt thought they should form into their own band since they were so talented. It was Linda who basically created The Eagles.
