Out of 88 candidates, 11 made it. That’s 88 of the best army rangers, the best green berets, and possibly the best raiders and seals(smallest percentage of any) and only 11 made it.
I will add, it was good to see Larry smile and laugh, first time ever seein him express joy haha.

Me and one of my great Army buddies were invited to attend selection for Delta. Even though I was a strong soldier back then, I wasnt gonna waste everyones time because I knew I didnt have what it would take to make it into Delta so I did not accept that invitation but my buddy did. He successfully went through the assessment phase and was going to continue through the process only to suddenly find out he had terminal cancer. How that was missed through his entire time in the military is unknown to me, but that bastard disease took his health and his life within 3 months and every time I think of it I just think its a shame. That guy I know in my heart was going to become a Delta Force sergeant. He was one of the greatest NCOs, greatest friends and greatest human beings I ever met and he was a bad ass and youd never know it as humble and friendly as he was. Rip bro! F'ing sucks!

I was never the type of guy to try out for this. I was regular infantry in the Army and that was hard enough. Huge respect for the people that try out for this. And those that make it.

These guys are absolute monsters, hard as nails, and they look like midsized, albeit fit, normal men….but boy they aren’t “normal.”

Spent 14 years in Group. Some of my team guys went over the fence and stayed there. It is a huge sacrifice going to Delta. Most marriages don't survive SF let alone Delta. Hats off big commitment

My Father was British Special Forces (S.A.S) His unit trained an American in the jungle called Charles Alvin Beckwith who went back to the USA and later founded Delta Force. I am very proud of this. God bless you Delta guys. Best wishes from across the UK pond.

Neutrality is harsh! Just like goggins use to get fired up because of dis encouragement imagine having nothing, no good to feed off and no bad to feed off, just blank pure suffering it’s on you to do the inner talk that’s savage

Great interview, thank you! Former 18D (SF medic) here.
Kudos to all you badasses who made the advanced land nav course and OTC.
I always wanted to take that next step to Delta selection, but had kids to raise and decided to leave SF (and the military) to do that instead. The attrition numbers he talks about remind me a little of the SFQC medic portion (phase 1 of 3, back then, late 80's early 90's). We had 83 who started that first phase of the 18D phase 1 (300F1), and not counting recycles, 13 of us finished goat lab almost a full year later, with no recycles, ready for phase 2.
US SOF training is the best training in the world, and I'm proud and humbled to have been a part of it.
