The fightstick overlay is such an elegant little joke. Unsuspecting viewers who just clicked on the #1 watched tekken stream are instantly clued into the gimmick, with no language barrier. Plus its funny.

I do think it's funny that it became known as a 'bot' when effectively 3ddy was like putting one of those drinking birds next to a fighting stick and having it bounce off of one button on repeat. I guess there was a second, far slower drinking bird hitting down occasionally, but it does strain the definition of 'bot'.

i think it's interesting that people built narratives around the bot on the meta level (the bot as protest art, or as a great wall players must conquer) the same way people built in-universe narratives around twitch plays pokemon (the helix fossil, etc). i can forsee this being part of a psychology thesis (or lets be honest, a video essay) on how the narratives around random bots reflect the narratives & storylines we project onto fighting game culture or something
