"Duane, has does it feel to be playing in the ultimate game"? " If it's the ultimate game, how come they're playing again next year " ? Responded Duane. What a legend!!!

He doesn’t get talked about enough. I guess he was tough to talk to. But you can see it with your own eyes, guy was a special
Player; strength, speed, balance, intelligence.

Going up in the 60's on the Navajo Reservation , watching cowboys and Indians on TV I hated the Dallas Cowboys , so after their first Super Bowl victory I heard of Duane Thomas in his second season and all the negative talk about him, he became my favorite NFL player . In fact there are only 3 Cowboys that I like watching Duane Thomas , Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith .

A gifted athlete and a player who stood up to Tex Schamm the owner who pitted the players against each other, same reason why Larry Czonka, Jim Kick and Paul Warfield left the Dolphin sdue to salary inequality

Duane Thomas had : Keen Eyes - Keen Balance - Keen Instincts.
And he reasonably expected to be paid fairly.

What a shame to see him flame out in just a few years. He definitely had that look of greatness to him.

Duane understood long before a lot of others that it was a form of entertainment in an entertainment industry. Dallas was known for being cheap, and Duane expected equitable treatment. It's no wonder he thought so little of the NFL.

Tex Schramm really blew it with Duane Thomas. For Schramm, it was all a game, seeing how little he could get a player to accept in a contract. Jim Brown said that Paul Brown went right to him and told him that he was the Brown's fullback, and gave him all the assurance he needed. The results speak for themselves. Can you imagine Super Bowl X with Thomas vs. Harris? Sigh.
