  Love how you touched on not just how Poe's work is important but how we can still not condone someone's actions while appreciating and acknowledging their importance.

  The last story is probably more a reference to The Fall of the House of Usher than to EAP&apos;s life. In the short story, the incest theme is actually reprehensible because Roderick and Madeline are twins, and just like in the game, Roderick goes insane being haunted by the thought that his sister was buried alive (and she was) and dies along with her in the end. <br><br>EAP&apos;s marriage with his cousin was never frowned upon, not even by her mother. The theory is that he offered to marry her because a much older, strange man had asked for her hand also, and her mother had no standing to deny it. So she married EAP instead and they had a platonic marriage until she died after suffering from tuberculosis for many years, at the age of 24. For years, EAP didn&apos;t even try to remarry (extremely uncommon for a young widower) until right before his untimely death, when he was courting another widow (of appropriate age this time).

  I once knew a now 68 year old woman who was married at 13. She hates talking about her late husband and even threw out all photographs and possessions that reminded her of him after he died. I never learned his age or how large the gap was between them. 55 years ago is upsettingly recent for such a betrothal.

  Little late but your review+analysis of this game is perhaps my first time being able to fully enjoy Edgar Allen Poe&apos;s stories. The way you describe the moments and what the main characters of each story could have felt/thought in those moments was riveting, especially with the portrayal of it from the gameplay (I genuinely got that feeling of horror from seeing Egeaus bloodied hand since it was built up so well) I think this was the perfect way to do a video on this game, so thanks for making this video and letting me/the viewers experience it :)

  talk about a jump in quality! I remember seeing your original video and feeling like every other media related to it, as in, just some young teenager trying to be funny and appearing shallow and uninterested to appeal to a crowd that&apos;s just as shallow and uninterested. but this video shows a literary passion within it, a desire to know more of what&apos;s written, a video essay like no other. my heartbeat was surely loud as the video went on, and I felt just as passionate about the topic as you sounded to be. all I can say is good work, you really outdid yourself.<br><br>some notes I would like to add:<br>the history of Malevolence (which, according to the credits, is how the history of the happenings in the house is called) is directly based on Edgar Alan Poe&apos;s life, slightly on his works, yes, but more on the happenings that made him write. Elise coughing blood while singing to the piano was exactly how the illness of Poe&apos;s wife (who was called Virginia ELIZA Clemm) started to make itself present within her, as well as her near demise. and the character in the game, Henry, seems to be named after Edgar Alan&apos;s own brother, William HENRY Leonard Poe, what seems to be but a coincidence becomes more once you realize the real life Henry Poe was also constantly on travels. the fact that, in the game, you experience each history after very specifically stressing moments happening in the real world makes it seem as though they are the creations of our own mind, creating each nightmare basing itself upon the world around it, a world of fear and death and madness too. <br>also, I&apos;ve given a name to the butler of the game, I&apos;ve named him Usher. hehe
