  Silksong is a generational game. Holy fuck it was so unbelievably good.<br><br>Right after it came out, many were actually disappointed in it. The community came to an agreement that it does have some flaws here and there…<br><br>… but it aged like fine wine. A year later, and I think we were all too quick to fault it at all.<br><br>2 mask damage?<br>Balanced perfectly, imo<br><br>Too few rosaries?<br>Ludonarrative harmony<br><br>Long Runbacks?<br>That’s the platforming component of the challenge. And there’s only two, and each being the gateway challenge to the following act.<br><br>Too many arenas?<br>What do you mean <i>”too many”</i> !? They’re all varied and enemy combat is a different kind of challenge, and really fun.<br><br>Shard economy?<br>Yeah, because tools are not an easy mode - they’re skill checks. Using only the needle is a simple challenge mode, and the game expects <i>better</i> of you.<br><br>Simple Straightforward Narrative?<br>Oh, you sweet summer child…<br><br>Meanwhile the amount of love team cherry poured into this title is so self evident. The little details sprinkled everywhere add up so much.<br><br>It had the greatest of expectations and hype and blew us all away. It was worth every second of the wait.<br><br>So… is it perfect? Bad question. It’s a spectacular work of art and an absolutely unforgettable experience.

  I love seeing people play this game. Getting through the first half, feeling like it&apos;s reaching a conclusion, and then realizing how much the second act has to offer. And then, the madness of these developers, they hid a third half of the game afterwards. And even still, there&apos;s so much to find that isn&apos;t completion. So many hidden rooms, alternate routes large and small, differing dialogue, unrequired feats.. it&apos;s so clearly a labor of love. While Hollow Knight is my preferred of the two - it feels more complete and its progression feels rather more sensible and well-paced, as far as gameplay is concerned - Silksong tells a compelling story, both in the game and of the effort and passion of its developers. Every time, I wish I could go back and explore this place for the first time again.
