  He once paid off a Sydney cafe/restaurant owners mortgage simply because they stayed open after operating hours for him &amp; his entourage to have a meal and drinks.<br><br>He might have been a Bulldog in the business world and made casinos tremble but he also was a kind-hearted man who understood the Aussie battler. <br><br>RIP Mr Packer. A true Aussie legend! 🍻

  I owned a newsstand in Vegas back then. When Packer was in town casino workers would come in and buy Australian newspapers in the hopes that they could give one to Packer and get tipped for it.

  The stories of the life of Kerry Packer are ridiculous. A wild card is an understatement. He was truly a visionary. Any cricketer making anything above minimum wage has Packer to thank.

I lost $1 when I was 19, and I&apos;ve been trying to win it back&quot; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <br>That might not be word for word correct, it is many years ago when I heard that, but its pretty close. He lost something like 7 million one night, and left the remaining 800k as a tip.

  The story goes when he was at a Brisbane casino, he went down George Street to a shop to buy a sandwich. The shop said they were closing and refused to make him one. So he went to another shop and they made him one, he paid something like $10&apos;000 for the sandwich on the condition they tell the other shop how much he paid for the sandwich.

  A great Australian, sadly taken to early. Reinvented the game of cricket internationally. Always had any politician on their toes. He allowed every Australian to have their Christmas day, and died on Boxing day.

  I was working at crown casino in Melbourne as a croupier when he died.<br>We had to stop our games, cover our floats for a minutes silence to honor Kerry.<br>I remember thinking that he would be rolling in his grave in outrage thinking what are you doing don’t stop them gambling!!!

  Packer was absolutely mad - but a legend. He gave money to so many causes and charities it&apos;s bewildering - but his condition was ALWAYS that no one must know the money came from him. He basically bankrolled Sydney&apos;s Taronga Zoo during his heyday.
