ANTV | The Journey of Solving the Case | For nearly two years, Nguyen Hong Son hid in the core area of Vu Quang National Park, causing the death of a fellow villager, colluding with Laotian individuals to form a cross-border drug trafficking ring. After more than 600 days living in the wilderness, the perpetrator was discovered and arrested. Case Information 1: On May 15, 2022, while drinking at a forest ranger station in the core area of Vu Quang National Park (Ha Tinh province), Nguyen Hong Son (born in 1983) had a conflict with Mr. Le Viet Huong. In a fit of anger, Son attacked Mr. Huong with a large knife, killing him on the spot and injuring another person. After committing the crime, Son took a military weapon and fled into the deep forest. Thanks to over 20 years of experience in the jungle and familiarity with the rugged terrain bordering Laos, the suspect continuously evaded capture, setting up huts in the forest, living in isolation for over 600 days, and even connecting with Laotian individuals involved in cross-border drug trafficking. After nearly two years of persistently tracking every lead, the Ha Tinh Police force located Son's hiding place in the deep forest and successfully apprehended him, ending a nearly two-year manhunt for a particularly dangerous wanted fugitive. Case Information 2: Ma Seo Chu, a former vice chairman of the People's Committee of Nan Xin commune, then served as the militia leader of Nan Xin commune, Bac Ha district, Lao Cai province. While serving as militia leader, he mistakenly slapped a sorcerer. Fearing retaliation, Ma Seo Chu fled to live in the jungle. Suspected of being a sorcerer, in 1990 Ma Seo Chu decided to hide in the old-growth forest, living like a wild animal. During his time in hiding, Chứ used the stolen gun to hunt wild animals for meat, which he then traded at the market for rice, clothes, and other necessities. In August 1998, upon receiving a tip from the public about a man living in a monkey cave in Văng Đẹt village, Thanh Bình commune, Mường Khương district, authorities quickly deployed a plan to approach the suspect.
