  Scams have tradition in many cities around the world. Charles Dickens of course brought us Fagin, the artful Dodger and Oliver Twist. Back in the 18th/19th centuries - the heyday of pickpockets, the kids were called “natty boys” even though girls were also pickpockets. Anyways,Conor highlights the here and now of London scammers. Enjoy! And don’t let this put you off traveling! Traveling is wonderful. You just have to have some street smarts.

  Funny story, I met the perfume guy when he was doing his scam in Croydon. Had a chat with him about his appearance on Scam City, same quote ‘We’re all sheep’ and gave me a free aftershave haha.

  I love London when I visit.I used to live there in the 1990's.The biggest scam is the property prices and the cost of rent.Shocking!I don't know how anybody can afford to live there now

  I noticed Conor tried all the scams only once, except the massage which he sampled (on camera, at least) three times - I can only admire his courageous and extensive research in this field.

  The massage thing is hardly a scam. Whether you approve or not, they offered him a service and told him how much, to which he declined and left after his massage

  A perfectly sober guy got into a taxi with a stranger knowing he is upto no good and "lost his crew in the middle of the night" pretty sure your crew was right behind you

  Unfortunately people are so unbelievably oblivious to these things. I live in Leicester Square and multiple times a day I see these things happening and worse, usually not even hidden because people just don't pay attention. I've literally seen a couple leave both their phones on a pub table and walk outside to smoke. One pub I used to frequent had someone reporting their bag stolen almost every night. Crazy that people still don't expect these things/act accordingly in big cities.

  I lived in London 1975/6 and the sales scam was then household goods, travel clock, calculator, etc. Same way of crowd encouragers.

  I lived in London for about 35 years. I never got scammed. I got begged from more often than I could shake a stick at - say - 10 times a week, @48weeks/year/35 years equals 16,800 times. That's probably an under-estimate. No doubt many of those were technical scams. I got pickpocketed once in Bayswater, I had a bicycle stolen forever, two motorcycles stolen and recovered, and I was physically assaulted 3 times (they got the worst of it). Perhaps I didn't look touristy. Of course, one heard horror stories routinely. The pedal rickshaws are notorious. I suspect the biggest scam at the time of writing is Sadiq Khan's ULEZ robbery...

  Being offered a happy ending isn't a scam bro. Its an additional service.
