I know people like to meme on the line "who will I have ice cream with" but when you think about it, it's just another sign of the tragedy. Roxas only lived for about a year, his only friends were Axel and Xion. The one thing they did together was eat ice cream together after work. The only thing he knows that friends do together is eat ice cream. He's really asking, "who else will be my friend, who else will I share these happy moments with?" He literally know nothing else.

I believe that Roxas is a community favorite because he's... Well, he's messy. Sora may be the ordinary boy turned hero, but there is a certain amount of protagonist gumption to him; he moves forward, regardless of the obstacle and seeks the best for everyone. As you pointed out in your video, he was the one to say the sacrifices of Xion and Roxas were not worth it.

Roxas, in this capacity, feels incredibly human; he never knows the entire story, he's always given the short end of the improvised stick. In the prologue of 2, most of his actions are simply trying to live his vacation, going as far as to attempt to refuse the call to adventure. In the end, he's the guy who was forced to kill his best friend when all he wanted was to have a somewhat normal life; his anger and confusion are not only empathetic, but completely justified. I feel like that resonates with a lot of people.

I was caught off guard by not realizing Roxas' first birthday is also the day he reunited with Sora. That's just...damn, dude. That hurts a lot.

Roxas is the MOST human character in the ENTIRE franchise, bar none. That's why he's everyone's favorite. He reacts to the situations he existed through in the most human way. Anger. Depression. Desire. Pride. These are all human emotions that people feel everyday. Anger for the situation that one is thrust into. Depression from the slog of daily life that means nothing. Desire for a more peaceful life with the people you care about. Pride in yourself for being able to protect and provide for your loved ones despite all the hurdles life throws at you.

Roxas exemplifies all of these things. Sure, its a fantasy world with inspiring heroes and dastardly villains, but the character who is the most human, the one who people can resonate with the most of all, is Roxas. That's why he's my favorite, and I'm sure that many other fans of his feel the exact same way.

At least for me, I really resonated with Roxas because my mom would always be moving from town to town, so I was always feeling cut off. My cousin on my dad's side got this game, shortly after my dad took custody and restored some stability to my life. But I've never quite forgotten how isolated I felt, and just how well that was captured in Roxas.

59:55 best part of this battle is how roxas utterly destroys saix even without your help. You can literally just sit back and watch him kick his ass. Satisfying

Something i love is that despite all the anger Roxas is shown to have about him haaving to reunite with Sora, he isnt angry at Sora himself, while it is shown later on during the Roxas fight that he is angry Sora is the one who gets to live and he doesnt, his anger isnt directed at Sora himself

To re-emphasize the statement in 6:44, when players replay kh 2, most of the time they want to skip the tutorial to play the rest of the game which makes it even more sad for roxas since in a metanarrative, he has to cope with the fact that soon he needs to return to sora and forget who he is. The fight against him in the final mix version becomes so much more heart breaking because of this.
