  My dad told my sister, when she was in high school, how much he used to study when he was her age. She told him he had poverty to motivate him and that she has nothing to motivate her since she gets everything. First born daughter syndrom

  As you get older you realize that your parents are not these paragons of what is just and right, they can be and are: stupid, assholes, selfish, mean, manipulative, etc. Just like every other adult.

  Another thing I learned is the time to learn a new language is when you&apos;re still in single-digit age, even better is when you&apos;re learning to talk, read and write. Once you get into double-digit age it gets exponentially harder and once you&apos;re over your twenties it&apos;s almost impossible unless you can move and live in the country of that language for several decades. If you want your kids to have the most job options once they reach adulthood, you REALLY need to get them learning more than their native language as SOON as possible - you&apos;d be surprised how many more jobs you can get if you&apos;re bi or multi-lingual, even in your own country nevermind being able to move to other countries to work.
