The vast majority of crime is motivated by economic pressures. Relieving that pressure will naturally reduce crime.

I think improtant to note is that, it is not mamdanis political views that are new and refreshing, it is that he actually works and implemented them. A lot of politicians claimed similar things to mamdani when elections come around but he is one of the only few who actually delivers on his promises.
