If you've got your monstera supported now and you still have that feeling of "but is she actually okay?", I made the free 5-Point Plant Health Check for exactly that. It's a quick run-through of the five key things to look at when you're not quite sure where your plant is at. ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://leafylovin.kit.com/5_point_checklist

Botanists who study evolutionary plant biology have deduced that the fenestration in the leaves is to allow sunlight and rainfall to get through to the plants beneath them and possibly prevent the wind and from tearing its own leaves. This explains why fenestration happens as the plant gets taller. No need for it when small.

I will probably just use a 2x4 . The moss pole seems like a gnat magnet

I saw a tip for moss poles. Put the bottom of the moss pole into a container-plastic cup, anything to hold excess moisture, so when watering the moss pole the excess water will go into the reserve cup instead of overwatering the soil.

This was actually just the information I needed to decide if I was going to add a moss pole or not so thank you! I've purchased all the supplies to make a D shaped moss pole for my Thai Con Monstera but then started hearing that Thai Cons don't need one. I've been debating if I'd bother with it or if I'd return the supplies. Now I think I'll go ahead and set it up when everything arrives. Im planning on adding a PVC pipe in it for added stability, wrapping it with either clear grafting tape or plastic wrap where roots haven't reached and adding some watering bulbs to the top for an easy and decorative drip system. I never realized how quickly this hobby would drain my bank account ๐Ÿ˜‚ The crazy part is that I'm pacing myself.

I use moss poles, wooden sticks, even my orange tree, which helped with the size of the leaves, they grow so BIG

My monstera decided to just send roots through the wall instead of using its support pole!

What a coincidence! My son and I were just securing my Monstera Deliciosa to the wall, right before it collapsed, when I stumbled upon your video.

Luckily, I found the D-shape moss pole, just like the ones you have, right at the start of my tiny Monstera, which was given to me as a cutting with two small leaves. That was 4 years ago. Now this monster is over 8 feet tall, with leaves just over 3 feet in diameter. It is gigantic and I'm still not quite sure how I'll repot it into a larger pot in the spring. I don't even know how we'll get her out of the corner of the dining room. She has become so large that I had to reinforce the moss pole with a thick steel rod because it started bending dangerously.

A piece of advice regarding filling with moss: mix in a bit of tree fern fiber, in case your moss pole dries out a bit too much. This way, it accepts water much better and is not hydrophobic.

I came up with a way of reducing the water loss from moss poles. Part of the pole isn't being used yet, because the plant hasn't grown up to it. I wrap that part with grafting tape. Grafting tape is an inexpensive, very thin, stretchy, adhesive free, plastic tape. The thin tape creates a barrier that reduces evaporation. It can be easily removed as the plant grows. Once the plant is established on a section of the pole, The pole, with plant can be wrapped again to reduce evaporation. The film is almost invisible once installed. I spiral wrap it, in one pass, so there aren't loose ends dangling. This works with wire poles as well as the D-shaped clear plastic poles.
